    "Lightweight Backpacking" Class - Nashville, TN

    Just wanted to let HammockForums members in the Nashville, TN area know of a class I'm offering on "Lightweight Backpacking" through Nashville Community Education. The class will focus on lightening the load to your back and your wallet, while increasing your enjoyment of the backcountry experience. We’ll cover “Leave No Trace” ethics, backpacks and clothing systems, shelter and sleep systems, cooking and proper food storage, trip planning and community/internet resources.

    4 - Monday evenings 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, starting March 5, 2012, At the Cohn Adult Learning Center, 4805 Park Avenue, Nashville, TN (48th & Charlotte); $49 (Note: course catalog lists the day as Tuesday; in fact, the class is on Monday.)

    Just so FishBone doesn't have to toot his own horn alone, I will certainly vouch for him and his classes. I've hiked with FishBone lots of times now, and he knows his stuff and is conscientious. Especially if you're a beginner, and maybe even if you're not, these are great classes to consider signing up for. Not to mention, whatever the cost, you'll more than make up for in ways he can teach you to save money on gear, food, etc.
