Stumbled across this on YouTube. Don't totally agree with his approach but the strap across the roof may have some merit. I'd eliminate the metal hardware to avoid scratches and dings.

I cant quite put my finger on it, but something about this just doesnt seem like a good idea.

totally going to try this without so much hardware in the Freestyle (all the seat fold flat, and front seat folds up to like 30 degrees). I will use little hardware too but I have tons of dings and scratches. will report back!
I've done this in my Xterra - worked great. I saw 'silverfox' on youtube do it for my inspiration ...
what a champ great idea/vid keep it up

I think I would have put something in between the biners to protect the finish of the van. or use soft shackles

Very inventive on his part!
I think you could totally eliminate all hardware if one wanted by using a whoopie sling for the adjustability part and soft shackles (or nacra's) for the connection's!

It's always best if your an early riser!
I'd rather drive the minivan over to some trees and hang my hammock that way!
That, and I'd want to run the thinnest, sturdiest material through the door frame. Sturdy to hold my weight, but thin enough not to warp how the door closes to avoid putting too much strain on the hinges.
Maybe have straps attached to the hammock, rather than a support rope? Then run the straps through the doors and connect up a whoopie for adjustment across the top.
Definitely not much room to adjust your sag in that hammock.
