    DIY compression stuff sack

This is a compression stuff sack I whipped up last night for my DIY primaloft UQ.
It is similar in construction to a dry bag with a round bottom.
Compressing the stuff sack saves between 1/4 and 1/2 of the original size of the uncompressed UQ.
I tried to explain how this sack was contructed and how it works but failed so hopefully the saying "pictures are worth 1000 words" holds true.
Unfortunately, I only have two pictures but hopefully that will be enough!

After making many hammocks, an underquilt, a tarp, and several odds and ends I think I'm finally getting the hang of sewing. I didn't run into many unexpected problems with this stuff sack and it looks relatively well done.

    Great job!

I like to see some pictures of it with nothing in it to see some construction ideas.

    Thanks for sharing!

so is it a roll top with side compression? Looks sweet. I'm thinking of trying to come up with something similar for my quilt. What dimensions did you use?

I'll definitely get some pictures of it this weekend. Unfortunately, I left the stuff sack at home (back at school now)

In the meantime, i'll try to explain it.
There is webbing attached around the circumferance of the opening at the top. There are two male buckles connected to the webbing. When closing the sack you roll the top of the sack several times and then attach the buckles to their female mates which are attached to a piece of webbing that is sewn to the bottom of the bag.
Pics will do a much better job at explaining it!

Yeah. It's a roll top with side compression (I like the terminology!). It's a cylinder and ended up being just under 20" tall and the base circle has a diameter of 8". I basically guessed on how big it should be and so far it seems to be the perfect size. Big enough to roll the top a couple of times, but not so big that you have extra unnecessary fabric at the top.

Very nice stuff sack fosho4. The top of my Aarn pack closes in exactly the same manner differing only in that it has a velcro top closure and then you roll and clip to the female mates. Outstanding job! Do you happen to know the weight of this?

Thank you! Unfortunately, I don't have a scale. It's on my long list of things to buy.
