Bloomingdales My Luxe pillows

I've read a couple of great threads, notably the one posted by HappyHiker, where down has been harvested from My Luxe pillows. Here in the UK, down is scarce and I'm looking for enough to do both a winter UQ and TQ. It looks like it could be economically viable to buy my luxe pillow from e-bay and have it shipped over.

I would really appreciate any feedback from those of you that have used my luxe down and particularly how it has stood up to the test of time. Has it compared well to the loft and fp of other quilts from other vendors? Would you use it again or do you quietly wish you had bought bags of down from HG or Thru Hiker?

I have done a lot of research on the Luxe mostly on this site. I was like you looking for a good source. From all accounts its top quality down but good luck getting a hold of one. I quit trying. They show up on ebay at random and are gone really fast or the price shoots up fast. Best of luck to you, I'm going look for some geese.

I have used 2 my luxe pillows and they are great. I dont think its quite 800fill but i would say 750 easily. If you have a choice i would aim for a firm king size pillow It should have enough down for both an uq and tq.

For the price i was able to pay it paid for itself in savings. The biggest pain was getting the down into the uq and tq. Other than that my quilts are just as good now as they were when i made them. I used the taro quilt pattern for the TQ and an open baffle system for my UQ

yeah i'd say you definitely pay them in the extra time it takes to weigh out the down. but overall, I've been very happy with the down, it's top quality. and even with shipping to Australia and ebay bidding wars, is still less than half the cost of purchasing down elsewhere.

I tried buying the My Luxe pillows and found it frustrating so I've taken the easier route and started raising my own geese.

At $8/oz that would have to have 40oz to make it cheaper than any regular vendor. What are you guys paying for these pillows?

There is a medium/soft queen size on e-bay at the moment for $75. Should be good for about 20 oz I would think. That's $3.75 oz not including shipping. Good price if it's good down. I'm only guessing at quantity, I've read that some of the kingsize pillows have given 40+ oz.

I have to agree with Graydog they are hard to get a hold of now. When i bought mine people were just getting into them and it was a little easier.

I would almost say you should just fly over to Hungary and buy some Hungarian down there.

I have made about 5 or so top and bottom quilts out of My Luxe pillows. I also believe that fill is a little closer to 750 fill. I have been using the quilts for about a year and a half now and they are as good as day one. They are warm and loft up great. I was able to get several pillows back when not as many people were looking for them on Ebay and was getting the pillows for around 2$ an ounce of down.
