I think that land belongs to the crown Bill, if it doesn't now then it used to do at one time. The queens Balmoral castle is just down the road a couple of miles.

Those pines are huge! And the photo of the one broken off laying on the ground is scary fo people who like to sleep inbetween trees. That is a beautiful area. Great pictures and report thanks for posting it.

Great scenery and great trip report. However, if you are Shewie then I think your partner has to be referred to as Petie - Shewie and Petie just rolls off the tongue better.

I learned some new words from this report - American English and English English just aren't the same thing. I can now go for a bimble in the mizzle and have Soreen for breaky. Well, no - we don't have Soreen in the US - I googled it and am thoroughly perplexed on what it is. Soreen - the original malt loaf, Deliciously squidgy energy! Hey, I learned another new word - squidgy!

When you said you had a couple of brews in the morning, I was thinking, "Gee, beer for breakfast. Must have been hell packing in all that beer." Then I realized you were having some sort of hot drink, possibly coffee?

I also learned a new term "spat the dummy," but I can't quite figure out what "hand railing a river" means.

Can't wait for your next adventure!

There was a lot of potential widow makers on this trip which put a bit of an edge on it come bed time, we never pitched in line with any but you never know which will be the next one.

    Lol, thanks for the giggle

I'm glad I've taught you a few extra English/English words, Soreen is one thing you have to try though. If they weren't so **** heavy I'd stick one in the post to you

I'll mention the new name to Pete, he'll probably read this and comment anyway

"hand railing" is basically following a feature like a river or wall without much need for any navigation skills, maybe it's another English/English thing?

We managed to get sheltered for the first few nights, the last one was a bit blowy though

Now that's interesting cause when i looked at those pics it reminded me of a book of watercolor paintings i have that Prince Charles put out and in there are paintings of that area. It was the shape and color of the trees. He's a decent painter.
