single TRL vs two ?

So I'm kicking around two schools of thought. TRL under or over lol vs two separate lines all together. I haven't read to much on the pros of two separate lines other than many of the vets like to rig their tarp that way. So could someone offer up some of the pros of two separate lines vs one long TRL.

I currently use a top TRL but am considering a change to separate lines.

Reasons for TRL?
1. I can easily move the tarp to center it over my hammock
2. I can pretension the RL without over stressing the tarp
3. (Most Important) I think it looks cool with the prussics and soft shackles attached
4. See 3 (yeah, I'm a Zing-it dweeb!)

Those are some great reasons but why are you considering going to two separate lines ?

I use a single cause in my mind (that yes is a very scary place

) it makes set up easier. I can tweek the position of my tarp over my hammock after everything is set up really easy. The last time I had it set up with the ends closed it I found the end was too close to my hammock so I just slid the tarp down the ridgeline a few inches. I didnt even have to adjust any of my tieouts

i use 2 separate lines

locked brummel on one end of the line that is larks headed to the tarp and a tarp fly about a foot up from that......wrap the zing it around the tree and back to the tarp fly and done

the reason i like this set up is

1. ease of set up
2. no prussics to slide and lose tension
3. easy to take off and put on another tarp if needed

It's a pretty close call, I like a continious ridgeline because it seems to act like a tarp tensioner and also because I have the option to run it under my tarp if I expect a heavy snow or really high winds.

One downside is that I actually left one on the woods once.

I expect to rig one of my other tarps with 2 lines just for kicks, I would imagine that I'll like it just fine.

Would a TRL make a porch mode setup more stable?

i like 2 lines, attached to the tarp by prussik loops, and to the trees with dutch hooks. -(this works exactly like a webbing and rings hmmk suspension)

you can still slide the tarp to center over the hammock. + no knots.
i've never had a prussik slip.

it also allows you to easily rig the tarp lines above your hammock suspension lines, fully utilizing the tarps cat-cut ridgeline, and avoiding interference with hmmk suspension.

Never seen this set up before. Very simple but very awesome!
