Nice review. The hammock looked long enough for you, but how tall are you?
Thanks for the vid. I'm currently testing the Skeeter Beeter Ultralight and hope to have a review out soon too.
Here's what I did with the shock cord for the bug net: Cut two 60 in. (1.5 m.) lengths of shock cord and tie the ends to the elastic tabs on the netting. I switched out the thick rope loop in the end channel with an Amsteel continuous loop and then use Whoopie Slings and toggles with my straps (the DutchWare Whoopie Hook also works great in this configuration). I clip or hook the shock cord from the bug netting to the suspension line. It's so much faster and pulls that netting up higher and better than what GT advertises in their material.
I'll post an illustration on that too. In my view, it works great.
The Skeeter Beeter series just adds a bug net to their already-popular hammocks: the GT Ultralight and the GT Double Parachute. The Ultralight has always been my favorite lightweight and economical hammock. There are two "Big Deals" that I like about this type of bug net suspension vs. a fixed ridge line like in the Warbonnet, Hennessy and others: 1) you can easily flip the Skeeter Beeter upside down when you don't need the bug net, or if you just want a chair and don't want to get head-clipped by the net, etc., and 2) (my favorite) you can easily reach up and over the bug net to adjust an under quilt, since the shock cord provides a lot of give and flexibility.
The Pro/parachute silk/nylon hammock is identical to other brands out there, including ENO, Trek Light, and others. I think if you can mod the bug net, you might get a better impression of the hammock, perhaps?

dejoha-please post pics/illustration. I haven't found a way to keep the netting spread far enough to be comfortable unless tied really wide. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Nice video. Thanks!
Sometimes I wish I had a second life to do all the HF stuff I want to do Pics are coming. I have two book signing events (today and tomorrow) so I've been pretty busy getting things set up. I hope soon to get some photos.
First, as I mentioned previously, tying off a length of of shock cord from one elastic tab to the other, making a loop on each end, was the first "mod" that works to get that bug net taut and out of my face.
The design of the skeeter beeter is so simple, I used it as a template for making a dozen hammocks for my scouts last month. One additional mod I made on a few of those DIY hammocks after testing them more and more was to sew one more elastic tab on the side of the bug net where my head was. Sort of like the Hennessy side tie-outs that hold the hammock out? Only this tab was about 12 inches higher and sewn into the bug net and not the hammock fabric.
This mod did the trick and made the hammock interior feel much larger and it pulled the bug net completely off my face and body -- something that other bug-net hammocks do not do.
Now, I haven't done that side tab pull-out on the stock skeeter beeter because I am using it as a floor model in my book signing events, but it is something I'll probably do in the future.
I have a few photos of my skeeter beeter on my Facebook page, if you have access to it. It's not ideal since it is on a hammock stand, but it works. in the field, I place/hook the loop of shock cord higher on the suspension using a toggle.

Makes more sense now, facebook pic helped. I'll have to get out and try it this weekend. The extra tabs probably make a BIG difference!
Thank you for finding the time in your hectic schedule to help out a newb, much appreciated!!
AHE just sent me my Whoopie Slings and Tree Straps..... Tomorrow I hang.....
Nice video, and thanks to Dejoha for additional information.
FWIW, I enjoyed having a SBP, but in the end preferred the regular SB.
