    Howdy from Georgia

I've been hanging for about a year since I met Dutch on the AT. I expressed my curiosity and concerns that hammocks just weren't UL enough. Well, he dispelled that myth and I've been sleeping much more comfortably since. Thanks Dutch!

I lurk here frequently and often post on BPL. I'm heading NOBO on the AT for several weeks, leaving sometime next week. Truthfully, I am here just racking up some posts so I can sell a thing or two for some hiking funds, but I should add that I am grateful to this community for all of the knowledge I've received. I still sleep on the ground in the winter, but I might become a winter hanger in the future. Things are warming up, though, so thankfully I don't have to worry about that any time soon.

Glad I could help. This is a very friendly place to chat and to sell gear.

    Welcome from Florida.
Meeting up with Dutch was your good fortune!
I too came here from BPL and found out that you don't need a team of Sherpas to hammock camp. You can be comfortable and light at the same time.

I'll hike the AT one of these days. Or parts of it. Welcome from TN!
