    Niteize Reflective lines (not!)

I bought some Niteize reflective lines with mini figure 9s for my tarp. The fingure 9s worked out just fine, but the line is only reflective in one type of light, my Prinction LED headlamp, which has a bluish light. I just tried three other LED lights and two incadecent flashlights and the lines did not reflect. Anyone else notice this? What about the Kelty TripTease?

Interesting. I use the same line, and it lights up like a beacon in whatever light I've used: LED headlamp, incandecent flashlight, coleman lantern, car headlamps, etc. Were you in a dark area or close to the line? It lights up better from a distance of about 10 feet, and the darker the area outside of the light beam, the better.

Basically, if you are close enough that you can see the green on the sheath, you probably won't notice any reflection.

I haven't had any problem with that line. In fact, the reflective pull lines on my MSR groundhog stakes aren't very bright, so I cut up the nite-ize line and replaced the MSR line so I could see it better. I think it is really reflective. The most reflective line I have seen, however, is the reflective line that came with my Big Agnes Seedhouse tent. (Which I have never used, since I started with the hammocking bug shortly after I bought it). I don't know who made that stuff for BA, but you could see it from space.

I use Triptease... lights up great from any source. You do have to have the light beam more or less in line with your line of sight to the line (it only reflects straight back to the light source, so light at your waist doesn't give much back but light up by your head and it looks like a fluorescent bulb).

Hey, maybe its time for us to see out opthamologist, us having seen so much. I just had the same observation about Lawson's Glowire. I thought of the need for it being night time, and expressed disappointment that it didn't glow in the dark, and the reflective threads were either subtle -- or I now confess -- beneath my visual threshhold. I still think highly of the DAY glow bright orange (and other properties of the Glowire. )

Come to think of it, ****, but I had the same disappointment with a Niteize stocking cap several months ago, one I bought just to pad out an order to get free shipping on a Petzl headlamp. This bicyclist thought --"Why bother with such minimal reflective threading, especially on black background.?"

I just saw this line yesterday for the first time. Thought it was prety cool as well. That sticks about the reflective properties.

    triptease

I've been using triptease for years now. It lights up like lazer beams. If you have a flashlight on, theirs no way you could miss these lines. Great stuff

    Niteize

I went out well after dark and tried several different flashlights from the same distance to the lines. Only the light from my Princeton headlamp was reflected. What gives?
