I also forgot to thank blackbishop. He really helped me a lot in the measuring and cat curve dept. I couldn't have made such a pretty tarp (I like it anyways) without his help.

This tarp was the most nerve racking project I have done to date. It took abot 11 hours to complete. I didn't use pins anywhere except to hold the corner reinforcements in place. One side of the grosgrain is kinda jacked up. It was my first run and I should have practiced a little before I started on my tarp. It's wrinkled in spots.

There is also a mistake in the geometry of the tarp that actually worked out to be a real advantage. I gave the rectangular dimensions th BB and he figured that each side of the hex was to be 71.5 inches long. I laid out the sides and then cut the fabric. After cutting the fabric I realized that my bottom measurment was 85 inches . This is probably due to some mistake on my end. At first I was a little distraut.

I then realized that a wide bottom meant that there would be more usable space under the tarp. I contacted BB and got the measurments for an 85 inch cat curve and the rest was history. Of course extra coverage means a little extra weight, but who cares.

    jakethesnake,

I have never weighed the tarp tensioners. They are made from about an 1 inch piece of surgical latex tubing that I got at a medical supply store. It was about 1.25 per foot. I used 2mm Glo Cord for the rope. It's easy to pick up those tensioners at night when my headlamp hits them. If I had to guess the are probably close to 1 oz each. At first I thought 20oz was a little heavy for the tarp and then I realized that I was including things like the seam sealing, stuff sack, tensioners, etc. and it's a pretty darn big tarp....

The dish was a sinch compared to the 42" plasma TV and surround system. I really don't mind the extra weight when I can just get in my hammock, kick back , and watch some HBO.

    Hey BB,
Do you still get a pretty good bit of light penetration thru the black sil? How does it compare to the silver for light penetration? I'm trying to decide whether to buy black or silver.
