Soft Shackle on Whoopie Sling ?

After putting on my Whoopie Hooks, I got a little obsessed with my suspension. And wanted to try another way of putting my hammock on my whoopies, and still be able to remove it. "Easy" So, I made a Whoopie Sling with a Soft Shackle at the end. (instead of a fixed eye) and put a continuous loop on the hammock using a diamond knot. My question is, will it work, is it safe ?

It will work. I've hung on the same kind of connections as well. Grizz did a video on the a no hardware set up and used the same principles.

I don't use soft shackles, but I use the same idea. I use Diamond Knots or Double Diamond Knots on both the hammock and the tree huggers. I have posted in the HFDHS thread on my ideas of removing all hardware using a loop with a Diamond Knot or an Albright Knot with a Diamond Knot.

    Gustav:

Good thinking and good work. Whether an operable loop is better depends on the rest of your suspension. I threaded soft shackles through the channels of hammocks when I wondered what combo I would settle on. Once they set, I found it more trouble to open the collar than I wanted and started clipping in 'biners. On the positive, I doubled the diameter of the line, reducing local stress on the channel fabric. Then, the stopper knot became just 18 inches of balled up cordage, for "just in case."

OTOH, if I lose a ''biner, that shackle can open and be put to use. Like last night when I couldn't find one of those biners......in another pocket.
