I've started wearing a Road ID (http://www.roadid.com/Common/default.aspx) whenever I go out paddling. It has my contact phone numbers, blood type, medications, etc all imprinted on it so if anything happens. who to call and what to give me are all there for all to see. Check it out yourselves, it's really inexpensive insurance for what it provides.

Well boys, my commitment is the 18-21st of September. So, any time other than that with the exception of labor day (my son is getting married then) would work for me. I know there is a mw hang in there as well. We could go into October with no problem.

I vote last weekend in September or first weekend in October. If we do October, I'm more likely to make the S. Illinois hang with Cavediver.

definitely interested. The last two weekends in September are possibilities. October also possible except for the weekend 10/10 - 10/13.

Don't own a canoe, would need to paddle in someone else's.

How about we paddle October 3,4,5. We could meet Thurs. Oct. 2, using that as a travel day,get up there, spend the night and put on the water first thing in the morning on the 3rd. Awful long way to travel to spend less than two nights and three days on the water. Just thinking out loud here.

I just got back from a 9 or 10 mile trip down the wildcat river. Capsized twice and lost my eye glasses and 3 cans of beer. Darn it. We were just talking about NOT capsizing and her e I go twice on one trip. We barely made it out before dark too. Dozens of log jams slowed us down. Mule
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

Hey, we have all had a little humble pie on the river Mule. Happens to the best of us at the worst of times. I have a $400 pair of glasses on the bottom of the Dowagiac River. Capsized in December, paddled another three hours. It was chilly. Same deal, log jams. Glad you are safe.

That may be the perfect long weekend paddle/hang. I'm good for those dates.

I'm in! (assuming I can still piggyback the boats! and the boss grants her blessing)

    Just to clarify...
    Oct 2 travel day
    Oct 3-5 The good stuff
    Oct 6 travel day?

Oh and to clarify the attire question, yea cotton and capsizing is never any good. I have many years of winter camping and actually perfer it to summer (went this year, it was -6 F) I lack in the knowledge of combining lower temps and WATER. Thanks for the info...the boots answer the first question that came to mind (footwear) and

Actually we will get off the water on the afternoon of the 6th. You can travel home from there, or would be welcome to spend the night of the 6th up there or at my place. I will most likely head home that day. It is about a 4 hour drive to my place. Depending on the car pooling situation. The 6th will definitely be a paddle day until about 3-4 PM. That is how the stretches of river work out.
