Hey Meld, and whoever else is wondering, here is what you do to have the big pics appear in the message, instead of just the thumbnails.
After using the "Attach Files" function to upload your photos, double click each one of them.
Highlight the URL of the new window which appears containing your full sized pic, and copy the URL.
Then click the "Insert Image" icon (that has the image of a mountain and a square sun).
Paste the URL into the window that appears.
Use the "Preview Post" button to make sure it appears where you had intended.
Click "Submit Reply". Done.
Group photo! From left to right: gRaFFiX (me) – Cardo – Nancy (holding Susie Q) – E.A.Y. (Liz) – Meld – OneThing – Amity – and dblhmmck. Late on Saturday afternoon, we had all finally arrived and were able to pose for a couple photos. OneThing’s friendly dog Bailey lays still enough for just one close up.
Meld delights us all by firing up his Backcountry Boiler. Wood burning never sounded as good as hearing this blast furnace roaring.
Once the sun dipped low everyone changed into warmer clothes and enjoyed some of Liz’s delicious Mulled Wine. Dblhmmck and his girlfriend Amity also brought some much appreciated Port.
OneThing sits by the fire, listening to everyone share stories, and dblhmmck and Amity shared their snacks with a hungry group.
Cardo and Nancy brought teriyaki chicken and some baked potatoes, and E.A.Y (Liz) brought some homemade pasties filled with meat. There was so much food I never had to open the dehydrated food I brought for dinner. I dropped the ball on the Pot-Luck idea but intend to pay everyone back at the next group hang. Dblhmmck entertained us all with an ironic bear story, and we all went around the fire sharing our most exciting hammock experiences.
I missed the stove showdown on Saturday because I arrived too late, but the next morning we all whipped them out and made our various breakfasts and teas. Here is Meld’s stove, though I’m not sure of the design, and E.A.Y.’s Ezbit stove with a caldera cone.
Everyone was all smiles at the start of a beautiful spring morning in Northern California while we cooked our breakfast.
I took a short walk down a trail near our camp and saw a very well managed forest. The manzanita all looked as if someone had trimmed them that morning, and the oaks stood quite majestic.
A few hours later, dblhmmck and Amity brought out some delicious chicken and cheese tamales, and some fresh avocado. Amity enjoyed the hell out of hers, and Victor took a momentary pause after a very spicy tamale.
Here’s a close up of those delicious tamales, and Nancy’s little dog, Susie Q. She was very well behaved, and never once begged for any food.
Cardo shows Meld his obsession, I mean affinity for all things related to alcohol stoves.
Next to Liz’s double hammock setup, my hammock, under the tarp, and dblhmmck’s vintage blackbird look positively Spartan.
Compared to last year’s group hang, of which only E.A.Y. and I attended, this was a very successful hang, and the location couldn’t have been better suited for it. I can’t wait to come back here and I hope all of you, and more, will join me again in October for another get-together. It was very nice to meet you all and I hope the feeling was mutual. I’ll leave you with a couple shots of the green grass, rolling, cracked hills, and large oak trees I passed on my drive home.
Those who expect disappointment are never disappointed.
Excellent review and great pictures. You have a great eye with the lens. It was great meeting you, and learning some valuable techniques was outstanding. Hope to see you in October.
I am teased and taunted))))))) Fun looking trip for sure.

Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
These photos were just AWESOME! I'm glad everyone had a great time on their adventure into the woods. Thanks for sharing.

VERY cool trip guys and gals, bummer I didn't see the post in time to request the days off work. I will for SURE be at the October one. Thanks for sharing.
OK. I have to fish or cut bait, as they say and get my report up!
I'll give you a hybrid report, some text and some video and some stills.
Here goes.
I brought way too much stuff.
The green-circled parts of the pile are what I'd take backpacking.
I had three hammocks with me
but only put up two: my WBBB and my old green DIY double layer.
I brought clothes to try, and the stuff to try a pad in my hammock One More Time before I give up.
I like to call this the Blair Witch Pad Project.
And I managed NOT to curse. At least not loud enough to get it on audio.
gRaFFiX brought his WBBB
Blinged out.
gRaFFiX also had some Dutch Flyz (which I had not seen yet).
Pretty cool!
dblhmmck and Amity arrived, causing a bit of congestion
with an early Blackbird and a bridge!
I got to see a bridge in person. How cool!
Amity looks quite comfortable.
Previous messages in this thread referenced the Stove Smack down.
Here you go.
And then there was Meld's now-famous Backwoods Boiler.
Cardo had made a very nice hammock.
With a double zipper bugnet.
And a monkeyfist buried somewhere in there.
Meld modeled his Mountain Laurel Designs poncho
and my Packa.
And A Good Time Was Had By All

gRaFFiX, you are a very good photographer. It was great meeting you, and thanks for taking the time to document it so well with your well-composed natural looking photos.
Liz, thanks for contributing your great organizational skills, and for securing our camp site. Thanks for the videos which show me what I missed by arriving late. It was a lot of fun.
OneThing, wishing you the best with getting that foot completely healed.
Meld, I am sorry I missed your BackCountry Boiler demo. I am still waiting for mine through the HF group buy. I'd like to know more about that mini fan that you used to stoke it. Looks good!
Cardo and Nancy, that was a great time! I didn't realize that your hammock was a DIY. Good job, next time that will give us something else to talk about. I've also made a bunch of DIY hammocks.
Oh, and thanks Amity for sharing my hammock hanging interests enough to get out there and hang with us.
Cheers
dblhmmck
