Thanks for this last post. I was banging my head trying to figure out why the +2 was in the cutting dimension calculations. I think it is redundant myself but I can see your logic. I think it would be best if it were not hard coded though so people could alter the seam allowance/channel as needed. In my case I don't want side channels so the blanket +2" is a bit excessive when I use the seam allowance input but on the top/bottom I would still like to give a bit extra for channels. I also think that adding inputs for each would be excessive. Either way, I love this sheet!

Ha, even sitting here thinking about it I am confusing myself. I will be better with fabric in my hands.

Edit:I am glad I cut everything without changing my allowance. I realized the +2" was only vertical.

Using this spreadsheet is going to be super helpful.

I've got one question, though. I'm planning on a 78"x50" non tapered TQ. When I enter that info into the spreadsheet, it says that the inner layer width needs to be the same as the baffle length. I didn't think the baffles went to the edge of the raw cloth. There should be a seam allowance on each side right? If my desired finished width is 50", then my shell cut width is 52.5" and my baffle length should be 50" right? I'm thinking my fabric is going to arrive today, and I really don't want to cut it up wrong.

I'm doing something wrong or the spread sheet seems to be messed up. Can't get it to calculate the amount of down.

Can you attach a screenshot of the spreadsheet, so everyone can see what you're working with?

This one is the estimated dimensions of the quilt I'm building:

    QSS1.png

14oz. may be right, but it just seems to be stuck on that number.

This one I increased the baffle height and over fill, and decreased the fill power:

Should have gone way up, but still @ 14oz.

The copy tab calculates down weight, but other things don't work, so I'm wondering if it's right also.

I just looked at the spreadsheet from the first page of the thread. It appears the "total down" cell (E16) has been altered. As it stands currently (2/19/2015 3pm MST) the cell E16 is not a formula. I assume it should be a formula involving the volume calculation of each baffle summed together along with some other wizardry. I will look at my downloaded copy of this file once I'm home this afternoon to see what E16 shows. I downloaded it in July '14.

I must say that I am just a regular user of this spreadsheet such as yourself. I do not claim to have any ownership, admin or authority over it. I can only tell you what I know from my perspective on the matter

Ah, I see. I grabbed the formula from the copy (fourth tab) and pasted it in. Assuming it's correct it should be good. Hope I'm not the one who screwed it up in the first place.
