    Newbie asking about ASRs

I was entertaining the idea of adding an ASR to my ENO DN, but I have to admit, while I understand what they do in theory, I have no clue how they work in practice. My questions are the following:

    1) If you attach your suspension where the hang wouldn't be 30*, how does the ridgeline make it so it is 30*, I am still a little blurry on that.

    2) How and where do they attach to my hammock?

    3) Is this something I buy, such as the ASR from whoopieslings.com, or is this something I can make myself from paracord or the such?

Thanks in advance for all of the helpful advice.

    1. It doesn't change the angle of your suspension so much as it keeps your hammock to a consistent Mount of sag. I've seen folks with their suspension really tight but using their structural ridge line to keep the sag the same ad if they hung at a 30 degree angle (although having it really tight puts more tension on the ridge line).
    2. There should be a loop on either end of the ridge line. You can just clip that into the biners on your ENO
    3. While you certainly can buy one they are super easy to make. I made my first on out of 550 cord and later upgraded to amsteel.

Good answers from futbolfreak08. Yes, you can easily make one. Paracord tends to stretch when loaded and you'd have to tie/untie to vary the length but you can try it and see if you like having an ASR.

Thanks for the replies. I will try out a RL using paracord on my DN. Still debating if I am going to keep my DN for backpacking or just use it as a backyard lounger.
