    Portland Oregon hanging and fishing

I've got some friends up in Portland who I'm trying to work out a visit. They're not the outdoorsy type, but I figured it would be a shame to not take advantage of some NW forests/streams as long as I'm up there. Any suggestions for some local spots to hang and maybe do some trout fishing?

Is that relatively close(2hours) to Portland?

Many places to hang in Western Oregon. There is a wide variety of landscape within 2 hours of Portland. The Ocean is about 90 minutes depending on the traffic. I have made it home in 40 minutes, late at night! Seaside is about 78 miles. There are many places to hang either at the Coast or on the way there. Then there is Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gourge. Depending on traffic maybe 15 or 20 minutes from Portland. There is Mt. Saint Hellens, just full of opportunity. So many choices, so little time. If I were you, I would decide what interests you the most, check the weather, that can make a difference. We have high plaines, semi arid region. That is why I keep coming back. Oregon is the only place I have lived, where I wake up in the morning and decide where I want to go, all with in about an hour of Portland.

During the summer there are endless options for hike/hang fishing options.
If you want we can arrange a hang if you want to meet some folks or I can make you a list of 10-15 easy to get to ones?
