    Looking for a starter system.

I like the idea of getting everything at once. Being my first hammock since the old net ones years ago in Boy Scouts, I figure a "turn key" rig was the way to go. I am not looking for insulation but I will need a bug net as I hope to take the hammock on a High Adventure trip with my son to the Quetico this summer.

I keep trying the for sale thread, but they all seem to sell while I am at work!

You may have seen this thread that is also now active and related to your question.
Several folks responded that a complete system simplifies the initial purchase.

The Grand Trunk skeeterbeeter pro is very nice and turnkey as well as about $100.00 cheaper!

Depending on how much money you want to spend. Warbonnet has discounts on package deals. And Wilderness Logics has monthly specials.

I am selling 2 Hennessy Explore Deluxe Hammocks for $250. That gets you 2 hammocks, 2 sets of tree hugger straps, 2 A-sym rain flys and 2 stuff sacks. One of the rain flys has a small burn hole near the side guy line connect point with in no way degrades the fly. PM me if you are interested.

OP: You are smart to go for a turnkey system, not kidding yourself about total costs. You must or should quickly find out about insulation underneath. That is the largest "Who knew?" in this.

That's parallel, to ground campers finding a $10 supplemental foam pad for the sleeping bag does not enable sleep; and soon they are looking at $120-$180 pads that might work. The sleeping bag leads to an unexpected expenditure as costly as an underquilt.
