I use the PBI Gordon Permethrin 10 from Rural King. Very low odor and none when it's dry.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

thanks guys, i associate lower odor with lower risk for the hanger. i could be totallly wrong with this assumption, but wanting to go that route as my first attempt. i have seen the gorden's product on the farm supply shelves around this area. and it's good to know it's available. i think i will be ordering from BUG SPRAY..i don't know what brand he's selling ,since it's unreadable from the links. - again thank you for the replys

No, no, no. Don't trust your intuitions about poisons. Read the label. Ask.
And stay away from carbon monoxide sources, the best known odorless, tasteless, colorless killer.

The product under discussion here appears to be Martin's Permethrin 10. It's EPA registration number is 53883-72. It's also sold as Permethrin 10 E.W.C, Exit X, Vector-Ban Misting Insecticide, Countryvet Farmgard 10%, and Pest-rid 10%. The manufacturer is Control Solutions Inc and they choose not to reveal the nature of the 90% inert ingredients in their product. None of the manufacturer's literature claims that the product is odorless.

Most of the available Permethrin concentrates (Gordon's, Permanone, Sawyers) are simply a combination of Permethrin, common low-odor petroleum distillates (kerosene, diesel, mineral oil), and emulsifiers to hold the mixture in suspension when combined with water. The Martin's may very well be as safe as the others, but until Control Solutions says what's in their formula I'll stick with the brands that are more open about their ingredients.

Has anyone tried this and is it odorless? Also, does the fabric feel oily or greasy after it has dried?

I have used the Durvet stuff (diluted, then soaked and dried clothing) and my gear still has strong smell after several weeks and three washings. My pants also have a greasy feel to them so I am not excited about wearing them.

I got roched into the one gallon purchase from Bed/Bath and recently hosed down a lot of gear. Never noticed any odor. Maybe my nose is shot.

This is what I use and it has hardly any odor at all. Before, I used another brand made for farm use, and it did have a "petroleum" smell for a while even after drying. Of course, that made it easy to tell my treated socks and shirts from the others. I can't do that with the odorless stuff. LOL

No oily or greasy feel, no.
