The basic design works really well down here in the FL sand. Got the Groundhogs originally and then the Coghlin's version, and that Y shape holds like a champ.

Picked up a few the other day didn't realize they were new. haven't tried them yet.

I have a similarly shaped stake in titanium and the weight is also the same. Mine are the Vargo "V" stake. I found that they bend easily where the notch is for the guy line.

I use ground hogs still. I've managed to snap two in half in the past few years. The aluminum is pretty brittle if you bend them. Once bent, don't try to bend it back or it's sure to snap.
