Ellicott Rock Wilderness - Chattooga River

Well, I am finally going to get back to the Chattooga this coming Friday the 16th, and I plan to stay at the "beach" or else close to the footbridge that crosses the East Fork as done at the Fall 2011 Upstate Hang. I know lots of folks have made the trip lately, and may be ready for something new, but i missed MY chance before and refuse to miss the opportunity and beautiful weather forecasted for this weekend. I hope to be set up by the river at or before 3 PM. I'm planning to stay until Sunday before heading back towards home. I will be solo, but would appreciate some other hangers if they can make it, even for one or both nights.

I might be able to make it depending on my work load. It's a beautiful place and I've been wanting to spend a whole weekend there myself.

Hope you can make it Deerfu, I missed the earlier hang during the tornadoes, and transportation needing repairs. I and a friend will be driving up to Clayton tomorrow morning , probably late morning and grab lunch in town, and maybe a deli sandwich for dinner, then head out for Burrells Ford. Will try for the beach first, but if it's taken, we will be between it and the bridge. I'll be hanging and my friend will be tenting, I'm trying to convert him to our ways!

Ahhhh... the joys of self employment! Had to work Saturday (doesn't happen often) so I had to miss this little trip. Hope yawl had fun

Sorry you guys didn't get to make it. You missed the best ever high speed dash I've made in the last 40 years back to my hammock after a long, flat jagged streak of lightning came down the river and over the trees! I was rinsing my pot by the river when it struck. Funny now, but it got rough with wind and heavy rain, and my new Ultra held up well with no leaks. We left the next morning after learning more rain was forecast. Maybe we can do something in April or May when the weather is more stable.
