    Weekend Hang

So we went to this festival last weekend to vend, and took the Clarks.
The weather was clear and the temp dropped into the low 50's at night.
I used the blue Walmart pad in my new flannel winged holder and covered myself with my down bag. Joe used his Thermarest pad.

We stuffed our extra clothes into the storage bags below. Kept us very cozy! Lots of skeeters buzzing around, but the little bloodsuckers couldn't get in! YIPPEE!

No problems really... except the trees we recalled being there were buried in underbrush with no good way to get to them. We had prepared some rough stands and used those on one end after finding two trees we could access to tie to.

They worked great! We slept like babies, through the drumming and loud partying, watching the shooting stars until it got cold enough to zip up.

I'm in love with my Clark Hammock!

I'm on my way tomorrow to California and hope to hang in Sequoia National Park sometime in the next 3 weeks. I'll report back.

In the meantime, here are a couple of photos. Sorry they're not better.

I hung in Sequoia this summer...it was awesome. Just a thought....you may want to bring some longer straps just in case. I drove through the mountains of CA from south to north hanging all the way. What a great trip. The only place I couldn't hang was Joshua Tree NP due to lack of trees.

    Joshua Tree

Miguel, we were thinking of hanging in Joshua Tree this winter. Couldn't you hang in the rocks?

nice. Did you bring those 2x4's along knowing you might need them, or did you have to scramble some when you got to the site?

I'm sure you could with some climbing chocks and/or some creativity. I arrived at dusk armed with neither. A hammock support made from 2x4s would have helped a lot. Actually there were a few sites I could have hung from but they were either occupied or taken. Try arriving during the week and earlier in the day so you can check out the two main campgrounds. It's an awesome place to visit.
