Tree strap ?

i havent used hardware since i updated to whopies. i dont think that a ranger walking up on your rig wouldfind the tree straps as protecting the trees, rather straps with metal pieces tearing into the bark. just my 2 cents toward hardware on tree straps.

True but Dutch biners or small carabiners can be deployed without them touching the bark.

Yep, works just fine but can be a bummer at time when you have those short-on-patience days due to its setup and adjusting.

Was wondering if there is a problem with just running the strap through the loop to hold it around the tree and not using any clips or carabiners at all?

May wear the strap a little quicker not sure.

It's a matter of convenience, IMHO. I started out running the strap through the loop. I now have carabiners as it is easier to put up/take down with them. If I were worried about weight, I'd probably use Dutch clips. I may change to them anyway.

Glad to here I am not the only one setting mine up like that. I like the thought of not having to use clips or biners.
Thought it may wear the straps a little quicker but they are cheap so not a big problem.

Just make sure you sew the loop well. There's no point buying 1600lb webbing and having the stitching in the loop tear apart with the stress.
