Does anyone have any thoughts on SRL for my ENO DN? I'm still really new to this but wanted to experiment with some configurations. I'm sure there's an answer somewhere on this forum, but I haven't landed on the right one yet.

Seriously, thanks a lot everyone. You've all been great!
You can use just about any cord with a breaking strength above 250lbs to experiment with for a SRL. Paracord (for example) works fine. Although paracord and some others will stretch a little, it won't be much for this short of a length and just to try out a SRL.

You can use a better cord later after you have learned what length you like and money is available.

Agreed gmcttr. IMHO a structural ridgeline which stretches isn't much of a problem so 550 paracord is a viable option. Of course you wouldn't want to use it for hammock suspension.

For those of you who use the Hug Bug net....on the hot, summer nights, when your laying in your hammock with just your shorts on, how do you protect your legs? Have always wondered this.

I guess you have to sit with your legs crossed and under the Net

I thought about making one before you threw that wrench in DIVAB

Maybe I will have to make a full legth one after all

Well, most of the time a person will have a quilt or sleeping bag covering their legs. If it's that warm where you don't need to use a bag, than a full sized bug net will be easy to carry.

Sorry I just can't imagine not having my full length bug net, and never had the nerve to ask what people do with themselves and this net in hot weather. I thought maybe they just switched out for another bug net. There's been times even when it's cooled down a bit at night, that I pull the PLUQ back under me, but still don't cover the top of me as it is still just too hot....but I have my bug net. After all the creepy, jumpy, spiders at Zeleski, I just love my full coverage bug net, top, bottom and sides. It didn't keep me from having a couple of nightmares, but at least there wasn't anything "real" on me. Just saying

I'm thinking of venturing into the DIY realm with fronkey's net design. It looks simple enough to work out. Any tips for first time sewers? Thanks.

A couple: practice with a small scrap of the fabric before trying to do anything else with it. The top tension that you'll need is easiest to find here.

Second, I recommend watching Ramblinrev's gear-making series, located here. It really helped me when I started out.

DIY Gear Supply's basic sewing guide, located here, was also very useful to me.

    Hope it helps!
