I just heard from 3 employees that the Greenville, SC locations Garage Sale is going down March 31. 9am.
Just wanted to spread the word although it may make the lines worse

If you've never been to one, make sure you get there early. Last time I went to one, I was there 2 hours before the sale started and still wasn't first in line.

Yeah, I have heard stories. Time to camp out over night
REI in Chicago are stopped having them. They put garage stuff out as soon as it is available in a members only area. Bought a 10 X 10 footprint for .83 and a smartwool long sleeve for $8. You have to go quite often to get the good deals - at least that is what I tell my wife.
I camped out for one once to be first. When people started showing up around 5 or 6AM they had a good laugh Apparently at the Timonium, Maryland location people don't camp out.

Different REI stores have different rules as to how many items you can take. Sometimes they will say something like "1 item per table per trip through" and other times there are no rules.
If it is no rules, throw stuff you might want in your cart/bag and go onto the next item - then inspect once you have visited all the different tables/areas.
Also, if you aren't first in line, it is very beneficial to wait around people "auditing" as a vulture..
After moving away from Dallas, I haven't been to a garage sale in over 3 years and am suffering withdrawal!
Thank goodness there will be a new REI close to me in about 6 months.
At the last sale here in the twin cities I got to the store around 10pm the night before and was still like 10th in line

The REI in Conshohocken (plymouth meeting) is having their Sale tomorrow. People start camping out about 9 oclock the night before. If you don't show up either the night before or 5am, you have to stand in line for hours. I HATE crowds, so no sale for me. I'm unbelievable poor anyways, so...
But if you do go, and get helped by Janice, tell you "hi" for me...it will freak her out (she's my wife)
REI Sale
+ using my dividend
+ a $63 store credit
= more gear
Having said that ... I have no idea when (or if) my REI is having their sale. I always miss them.

Sounds like a lot of fun gang!! Wish we had an REI. Sounds like you could even pick up spectacular deals and sell discounted here and still end up with a little profit.
