    hammock size question

So I'm just about finish with my first diy hammock, I laid it out before gathering the ends. I noticed something looked wrong, i measured it, and realized I forgot to trim the fabric to size. It's now 58" wide (not a problem), and It's 14ft long. Well this be a problem? Should I pull the stitching, trim it, and reassemble? Thanks in advance for the input.

    Edit: I'm only 5'8"

Wow that's one really long hammock, I am far from an expert but I would guess around 11 or 12 ft would be good

Well you can use one that long. As long as you can find a place to hang it. I use one that is 11' long. I would probably cut down one end and re-sew it.

I would go with about 10-11 feet, 14 is overkill imo.

    11ft was the original plan.

14' is going to give you problems when you hang it because there is going to be soooo much sag in it that you will have to climb up the trees to hang it.

I am 6'-1" and 11' is my favorite length.

Cut 3' off the end and re-seam both pieces.

Make a gear hammock out of small piece!

I'd go down to 11' and use the extra for a bag and ridge line organizer.
    It'll be alright Friday!

No need to "pull" any stitching. Just cut it to length (including the new hem allowance) and hem the end.
