    Back pain in WBBB

Guys, when lounging in the BB, I often get back pain even though I'm completely relaxed and still. Does anyone else experience this or is it just my back stretching out? It seems to be isolated to the BB. My DIY gathered end hammock doesn't do that for some reason. I've adjusted the hang but still often get it to occur. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry I am not sure to be honest. I have had back surgery and my back feels better in mine but it is a 1.7 DL so maybe it does not have as much sag.

Can you explain what you mean when you say "Lounging"? are you sitting in the hammock sideways like it's a chair, or laying down?

I too purchased the 1.7 Dbl for the sole purpose that I'd heard it was good for folks with bad backs. I had back surgery 9 years ago and struggled with camping since...that is until I found the Warbonnet Blackbird. I can't wait to sleep in it because my back feels better after a night in this hammock than it does after a night in my memory foam bed at home. I just returned from a 5 day trip through the AT where I slept in my WBBB everynight. I didn't have any back problems on the entire trip. My WBBB has been a life saver.

biggameken-'I just returned from a 5 day trip through the AT where I slept in my WBBB everynight'---trip report please!

sorry to hijack thread but like many I've never had back pain in the Blackbird or Traveler; often recommend them for people who've had back pain, and have over the years suffered injuries only to wake up post hammocking and felt cured.

What part of your back is hurting? And what does the pain feel like? Back pain can be a lot of different things depending upon location and type of pain. It could be as simple as your muscles stretching out, or it could be muscle strain from you body trying compensate if your hammock is stretching too much. It could even be a nerve being pinched at your spine if it gets kinked just the right way. When you get up does the pain go away almost immediately or does it stick around for several hours or more?

BlackBirds are so nice, I actually roll over at times and sleep on my belly. Mostly on my left side looking out over camp and the Vista's

By lounging I mean simply laying in it and reading in the back yard. Pain is lower and feels similar to the day after a bunch of heavy lifting.

Hey SC, talk about your lay, are you a "head higher" or "Foot higher" guy, laying on your back or on your side? Are you at 30* angle or steeper? Is your ridgeline taut or slack?

I spent a good deal with mine this weekend, and I finally got it dialed in pretty good, it required more slack in the ridgeline than I would have ever thought, but once my biggness is inside it still tightens up pretty good. Also I am much more practiced at sleeping on the angle, My feet were in the footbox but my head was almost under teh Ridgeline. How is your angle?

Just stuff to tweak and try, your milage and all that. Don't give up on it yet, had a questionable back for years and I am sleeping like baby Jesus in mine. Counting of course that baby Jesus snored like a wounded Moose.
