"Courage Grows Strong at a Wound" - Stewart Clan Motto
Hey! I was reading the forums this morning and decided that I would design a stand and post it. I hope this is the start of a long stay.
Here is my idea. I don't know if it would work and I know my drawings are not complete. Hopefully someone will like it and try it out. If you do tell me, I would love to know!

welcome to the group.
i don't know what materials you had in mind to use, but your design looks a lot like ricks stand.

i've made a couple versions from that basic plan, & several other folks have too.
mine were plain ol wood, but some people painted theirs & made them look nicer.
redhalk recently added pictures in the home made gear gallery of a nicer looking, well made stand.
it works great. ...tim
I too will something make and joy in it's making
Yea. I saw that design (undoubtedly some of it worked into my mind) but I did not like some of its features. Particularly how the bottom of the frame was off the ground and the plywood as lateral braces.
Really my idea is Rick's design combined with the design for a trebuchet I made quite a few years back. I meant for my design to be assembled indoors and the top brace to be flush with the ceiling to avoid the "bar across the room" look.
My favorite design is the basic W without the middle hump. When well done I think that it is a very sound and beautiful design.
Right now I am thinking about my first hammock. The one that doesn't exist outside of a useless drawing.
