I got 3" steel fence post, will these do? Set in concrete.

I went a slightly different route, I bought a steel hammock stand made by texsport. Its kind of shaped like a banana. It was about $70 (I bought 2). I can take it down, move it, whatever, and it supports my 375#s without bending. I can bring it inside during winter, move it to cut the grass, etc..... been great so far.

Should be ok, I would think. You'll have to use 4" PVC in the middle of the bucket so the 3" will slide into it. They might lean a bit but who cares?

I tried 4x4 posts which broke.

I then bought a couple of 12-14 ft long about 7" diamenter pier pilings (lots of pier building down here on the coast, they cost me about $90 delievered for the 2). Sunk them about 3+ feet in the ground and backfilled with dirt. Have use then many a night in the backyard.

Have them arranged so that I can also use my Pecan tree with them. Can hang 3 hammocks at once.

While not feasible for most, I hang off a power pole that was left in my yard after they moved the lines from it.

So call up your power company and see if they want to sink a couple of poles in your yard.

    I appreciate the ideas guys!

I went ahead and picked up some 12' 6x6s. I'll be burying 3-4ft of them, depending on how hard my dirt is

Gunner, mind if i ask where you found those rings?

So I'm looking at sinking a post as well. My wife wants a clothes line and I want a place to hang

I have a deck which I'm going to use as one anchor point, its about 5' from ground to floor and another 3'8" to the railing. I'm planning on attaching the clothes line to the railing and the hammock around that 5' mark.

I'm thinking about sinking a 4"x6"x12' to a depth of 3'4" to give me an even height with the deck.

Has anyone used 4"x6" posts with success? I'd have the longer side going with the direction of the hang. Otherwise I'll just use a 6"x"6.

I'm going for a distance of 15' from deck to yard post. Should I go longer/shorter? I'm hanging an ENO DN.

I'm also slightly concerned about only having the anchor point around 5' on the deck but I think it will work, might just have to have the other side up higher.

Let me know what you all think.
