Need a little help to be sure I'm installing my SRL right

Finished my two DIY hammocks today. Made two sets of whoopie slings and two adjustable ridge lines. To my question:

I ran the burried loop of the ARL through the center of the gathered end, then rand the whoopie sling through the loop of the ARL and then pulled everything snug. I'll post some pics soon but for now does this sound right?

That's how the Warbonnet hammocks have their SRL's attached. Are you going to dial it in and then do the adjustable loop the same way?

That's what I was thinking. I was going to find the optimal RL length and then cut the excess off the adjustable tag end and bury it to make it identical to the other end. Does this make sense?

That makes sense. If you do cut the end off and bury it, may I suggest putting in a few stitches through the bury to prevent it from coming out when not loaded and being packed and unpacked. You could also leave it intact and use some small cordage and putting a little whipping to keep the loose end in place. That way you can still use it adjustability.

OK, thanks Bubba, I appreciate the info and advise. So should I stitch the fixed loops to keep them from slipping when not loaded?

If you make the end eyes with a locked brummel and bury, stitching is not needed. If you are just forming the eye with a bury, then they should be stitched.

Yes, thanks gmcttr. I did not think to use a locked brummel so I'll stitch it. How can I keep the adjustable end from slipping?

I may have overlooked some of the previous info...Let's see if I have this right.

I'm picturing an ARL made like a whoopie sling and after you find the length you want to keep, you plan to leave the adjustable loop and bury (constrictor) as is, but cut off the excess free end of the adjustable loop and bury it to tidy things up. A few stitches in the new bury and the constrictor bury would prevent any slippage while packing, etc. Lock Stitching

I would be tempted to just cut the adjustable loop to an appropriate length and make a new locked brummel/bury fixed loop on the end. The cut off section will pull out of the constrictor bury to get rid of it.

I'd suggest that once you find that magic length for your RL to remove the adjustment and replace with another locked brummel at the end. Instructions for making a locked brummel without access to both ends can be found here.
