Help me pick out my first hammock

Hey all. I'm completely new to this, but like most outdoors things, I'm willing to try anything once.

    Here's my stats:
    5'9"
    180 lbs

I surely want a bug net and tarp. For now, I'm only worried about summer camping. I want to do this on the cheap. I have limited sewing skills, so I could perhaps handle a DIY kit but it would have to be VERY simple to complete.

The goal is to try this out with a hammock setup that is cheap enough that I won't feel horrible if I hate it, but good enough that it doesn't taint my test. A friend recommended me to a website that talked about making a test hammock out of a bedsheet or something. The problem is if I don't like it, it could very well be due to using a bedsheet instead of a real hammock. Sometimes ultra-cheap gear can turn you off to something you'd otherwise like.

So, at 5'9" and 180lbs, I won't need any of the super heavy duty stuff. So what would you recommend? I don't know anything about this, so I'll need the whole kit. I do have a sleeping bag and REI lite-core sleeping pad. I don't know if any of that will work in a hammock though. I have no idea what other accessories I would need such as snakeskins, straps, pads, blankets, etc...

I'm not overly concerned with weight, as I'm used to dragging around a 4lbs tent.

    Some options I've looked at:
Travel Hammock Skeeter Beeter and some sort of tarp (no idea what tarp)
Hennessey Hammock ASYM of some flavor, probably expedition
    Mosuito Hammock Jungle Hammock

    Thanks for the help!

Ah, didn't even realize that was the Claytor. I see talk about Claytors here on the forums. He should change the website to Claytor Hammocks instead of Mosquito Hammocks.

With that setup, will I need anything else? Pad, webbing, etc...?

Also, is the jungle hammock worth the extra money and weight over the expedition?

Consider this. If you really go cheap with a hammock and tarp, it may not best represent the benefits of the hammock camping. In my opinion, not all hammocks make good camping hammocks. If you go with a claytor, HH or some othe camping hammock and dont like it, you can always sell it for most of the value. You put a lightly used claytor or other hammock on a site like this and it will not last long.

Most likely you will never sell it or sleep on the ground again. You will be drawn to the dark side

It looks like it's a toss up in price between the Claytor jungle hammock and the HH Expedition ASYM with Hex Fly.
