noisy straps

I used some straps from a harbor freight tie down (the red ones, not the yellow I've seen some people use), and they make sounds that seemed like stretch to me at the outset. So much so, I switched back to the Byers suspension before long. This was on my porch, so no damage done. I used them with knotted loops, which are holding, but getting very tight. Is the noise typical of straps, or an indication the straps are nylon, or the knots tightening up, or what?

No clue. They're about an inch wide.

I often hear a "sound" when I first lay in my hammock. Once I get up and then back in, I don't hear it again. If I'm out for multiple days I only hear this on the first day. I've come to think of it as the straps "waking up" after a period of non-use. Never been a concern to me.
