Strung up one end of the hammock tonight with these rings. All in all they were a success based on the fact that I didn't fall and they didn't distort at all. Here's a few pics of the samples they sent me in action:
Do you know the weight of the rings?
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.
I think they are .5 oz. weighed on a postal meter scale.
So it would be 14 grams vs the SMC version for 11 grams. Considering the price and color options I could spare 12 extra grams on my ring buckle setup...of course, I'm not counting!

not as light as a SMC, but an alternative

How about 22-cents?

No idea of the weight or strength though. LOL
Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered several sets of black rings from Sling Ring and they arrived today. I took them out and hung from them for a while and I'm pleased to say they worked great. I'll stay cautious with them until I actually spend a few nights on them but I so no reason now to think they are weak.
Those .22 cent rings look good and are 3/4" smaller. I'll have to give them a call sometime and see about the specs on them.
