    Thanks for all the posts, just completed my first hammock and with the help of a few YouTube videos on how to operate a sewing machine, and a few trial pieces first, I well chuffed with the results, and to my surprise it hangs perfectly.
    I stitched in some webbing to the sides 3/4 inch and used a double layer of ripstop fabric with a sewn in pocket for insulation.
    I off set the gathered ends by 3 inches each end, to tighten up the sides. It's beautiful.
    I'll post my diagrams and a photo soon.
