A few odd questions about camping hammocks. I hope I don't offend anyone.

So, I've been backpacking for some years now, mainly since I started college (which seems like a decade ago, and is quickly approaching it). Being in college, sometimes I end up going backpacking with a "special" friend, or will rendezvous with someone on a trail. Tents (while despised by me for their size, pointlessness in warm weather, and weight) serve this purpose well, allowing two people to sleep beside each other, but I'm incredibly intrigued by the idea of camping in a hammock.

My questions is this: I know a lot of the cheaper ($20-$40) hammocks come in "two person" sizes. I would like a hammock that is a serious camping hammock , but one that might occasionally fit a friend. Is this possible, or am I just dreaming? Should I buy one serious hammock for real manly camping and another cheaper one for lounging with a lady friend? Is there basically no difference between the cheap and expensive ones?

For reference, I live in Southern California and mainly camp during the Summers (meaning it's quite hot).

I just realized there are 1029348092 threads about this. My apologies.

I think I'll get a TTTM king size, and upgrade if I'm looking for something more "serious." I doubt I will; I currently sleep on the floor with no pad. A hammock will be a great leap forward.

Wow, you answered before anyone else could jump in to talk about ENO Doubles and stuff. Sounds like you have it figured out.

Please post some pics of your King size hammock for those of us who have not yet seen one.

    Thanks.
