almost any chandlery (or marine shop dealing in sails) will have waxed whipping twine. Great stuff, but as said almost anything will work.

I used the spare shoelaces for some dress shoes I've never needed.

Yes. I have seen several similar cords there. You are looking for 1/8 polyester solid braided cord. It is sold as sash cord and/or utility cord.

This will work but is a bit heavy:

This would be my first choice from what they have:

I don't know of they have weird fiber mixes of are covering their bets for whatever gets put in the bag. I'd avoid Nylon because it stretches.

Here is a better choice but at Lowes:

OP never said what size cordage he was whipping. Nothing the matter with dressing cordage used here with whipping. But heavy polyester thread would be appropriate for dressing a splice or end of 7/64" Amsteel.

I think he's whipping a hammock... but now that you mention it, some HD thread would really look nice on my amsteel... soak it with superglue and it'd never come off....

I also assumed hammock. I bury the ends on amsteel, the ultimate finished look. I thought everyone did that, which is why I assumed it was a hammock question.

    Hi Guys,

Thank you for all the ideas.

Yes it is a hammock that I am whipping.

I am trying to do a setup in my basement while I decide what to buy or make.

I am going to use a sheet to start and move on from there.
