    Just my thought...
The other part is that on the ground most nobody lays directly on the pad or on non-wicking nylon. They lay on the bottom of a sleeping bag, which wicks some or well, the moisture away. Put enough layers of wicking batting between you and a rubber / vinyl sheet at a fancy hotel, and you won't be disappointed in the bed for it being clammy.

Poking holes will mostly ruin your pad.

Wherever skin cannot breath, and that will remain true for 99% of the area, there will be a risk to many of discomfort from vapor impermeability.

[QUOTE=DemostiX;736218] Poking holes will mostly ruin your pad. QUOTE]

I'm going to ruin a cheap walmart pad just to give the idea a try!

It's already cut down to 3/4 length and I've been carrying it in my kayak for shore sitting since last summer. I wonder what pencil size holes cut out will accomplish for getting moisture away from me? Perhaps some sort of kitchen gadget veggie core removal tool could work for removing pad material. I'll think on it a bit more...

    Pad hole poking

-scrap piece of 1/2" steel conduit, about 6 inches long
-sharpen the end with a grinder
-mark the pad, staggered rows. holes about 2-3 inches on center, 2 inches will breathe better
-place pad on scrap of wood; punch holes with hammer and homemade hole cutter. A 1/2 inch drive drill can work as well.

-Another idea, cut pad to 48 inches as a torso pad, use the cutoff excess to make shoulder wings for the torso section with duct tape wings or an SPE

    Walk good and hang well

I'm planning on using my yoga mat for a pad and just bringing along my yoga towel with it. They are super absorbent, so any condensation should be soaked up by the towel instead of my bag or clothes (I hope!)

Stay with me a moment....for 50 down to 30 degrees I'm planning a CCF pad in the double bottom of my new WBBB and to combat the condensation problem I am planning to glue several layer of fleece to the top of the pad. My thinking is that the fleece will add warmth and also isolate the pad from the condensation producer (me) to the point of eliminating any condensation. I was originally going to glue Reflectix to the bottom of the pad but I'm not sure it is necessary now. I have a 3/8" CCF pad and I'm taping 2 pads together to make a 36" wide pad from shoulders to hips and then taper to 30" in the foot box. The pad will be 72" long and inside the double layer of the BB.

Below freezing I plan to use a UQ under the pad....maybe a Climashield or Primaloft or a KAQ synthetic.

Any guesses on whether the fleece idea will isolate enough to stop condensation??? Is there a better material to use for this purpose?

    Last night at 68 degrees

I tried the pad and the fleece cover last night at about 68*. Went to the hammock at midnight and by 0200 I woke up sweating with no top cover wearing a tee shirt and shorts. Pulled the pad out and spent another 15minutes before I got cold...not a success at that temp. The fleece on the pad inside the WBBB pocket was "damp" with sweat...back to the drawing board or wait for cooler weather.

    Any ideas/thoughts?
