    Anna's Hammocks

    Hello HFs!

This is a recent article featuring my sister's new business:

    http://www.mlive.com/business/west-m...ologist_h.html

    Her website is:
    http://www.annashammocks.com/

I recently found this forum and thought members might be interested in her product. I will be happy to answer any questions.

*Hammocks are no longer available at the introductory price.

Thanks again, picya12. Interesting that she's using a gathered end without gathering... Have you, yourself tried any other hammocks (like an ENO)? How are they different?

Hey Boomer- I haven't tried any other hammock than the one Anna made for me. Since joining this forum, I've learned so much about all of the gear that can go along with buying a hammock! Oh my. I'm glad that I started with mine b/c it's so handy without all the extra gear. Anna's Hammocks have no carabiners or straps. The design is super simple and involves two heavy duty ropes that are strung through the loops that are hand sewn at either end. I tie slip knots around the trees and I am good to go. The hammock itself is made out of taslan, rather than nylon so it's supposed to be a bit nicer against your skin than nylon. It has a pouch on the side that is meant to be handy for things you may need to access in the night, but truth be told, I use it to hold my beer.

Hey Boomer -Do you ever camp on the Olympic Peninsula? I look longingly over there whenever I'm on Vancouver Island. I'd love to check it out, but I'm just not familiar with the good spots.

Welcome picya12. You'll need some extra large tree straps for the O.P. the tree's there are huge! I haven't hung there, but I've hiked there a bit, all the while admiring the hanging possibilities.
    Good luck,

    Hey Red-
Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to just commit and get down there this summer.
I had a look at some of your photos. Your homemade gear is so cool - esp. the sleeping bag. I'm super impressed. I noticed that you did a hang at Ludington State Park. Do you ever go next door to Nordhouse Dunes? I find that it is the best camping in MI.

We'll be there in July! I can't wait to set up my hammock in my favorite spot overlooking the lake with a cold beer (totally worth the effort of packing it in). Maybe see you there!
Unless, of course, YOU are in my favorite spot. Then we will have to arm wrestle for it....

You may want to suggest to your sister that she include tree huggers (webbing straps) to protect the trees and the image of hammocks in the outdoor community.

    Hey Knotty-
Thanks for the tip! I'll pass it on for sure. I have (obviously) never used tree hugger straps before so I looked them up. Is the material that they are made out of like dog leash/collar material? Do you buy them or DIY? Any other members on here have DIY tree huggers?
    I really appreciate the feedback!
