A simple question about steel stands.

Hello everyone.
In May, I am planning to do an outdoor hammock demonstration at a location with only so many trees. I will be setting up hammocks from several manufacturers and wonder if any of you had any experience using one of the many cheap, steel patio type stands for "back-country" type hammocks? I think they are long enough but I am not sure if they are tall enough. And if so, can you recommend a certain one. Thanks always for your help.

It worked for my NX250 from Clark and my HH Safari but you are low low low. Did I mention that it was low. I like to be up there nice and high but it worked for plotting and planing improvements and mods. IMHO YMMV Yada Yada....

I have a Texsport Stand that I use with my Blackbird Hammock, it puts you really close to the ground. It is the double polled continous loop one. If I had it to do again I'd get the one with the central metal tube. Now, if things go all wrong you'll be catching a tube in your back BUT they ain't gonna go wrong are they? Plus it's easier to add extensions to the top of that unit to hold your tarp up over your hammock. My unit comes apart into 6 pieces, two pairs of the same 3 pieces, and some of those pieces are pretty long, made for interesting hauling up to Oshkosh last year.

There also are designs on this hear board using 1 and 1 1/2 inch Electrical conduit for poles, stabilized by guy wires with your hammock suspended inbetween like some kind of suspended bridge. 6 foot long conduit sections nestle one inside the other with the homemade offsent tent stakes nestled inside the inner conduit. Pretty neat arangement.

If you've got multiple hammock campers and are car camping, you can make one of those Tensegrity stands, they're pretty cool looking too, but like the nestled conduit, a little on the bulky side.

I had a muffler shop make me some extentions to give me more height on my stand. I am into year3 now with it and still holding up.

I bought a cheap one from Academy $29. It was long enough but nowhere near tall enough. I took a pipe bender to it and curved it up. It is perfect for my blackbird now.
