My plans on gear (hammock+tarp+TQ+UQ), please help to decide :-)

Hello,

I'm new to hanging and I want to buy all-new gear: hammock, tarp, TQ and UQ. I have in mind 5 setups, here they are with some calculations. Have to mention that I will use no pad and will take this setup for overnight trips from basecamp. I will carry on my shoulder this gear and some other stuff (≈4 lbs).

I think I should explain how I plan to setup it. Here is a video and original post by BearChaser (Tarp, rigdeline and webbing straps are in snake skins, and hammock and quilts are in bishop bag. First setup tarp, and then attach hammock to knots on ridgeline.

What will you say? :-)

I'm 5'9"/132lbs, night temperatures are 40-60 (rarely up to 70). Clothes might get wet, so I don't rely on it as an insulation (but of course I will have dry socks :-)).

Go with the "cheap" option. All those products in your "cheap option" are high quality, tried and true products that work well together, by all reports. Weight is approximately 5 lbs + you said you carry 4 more pounds, typically. 9 pounds base weight isn't so much. Save your money.

As well, you'll save money on shipping by ordering from only 2 vendors, instead of three.

Danced around a lot, updated a table. From all points of view UQ HG Inc 20F looks like the best solution for 3 seasons.

Now the main issue is TQ: 20, 30 or 40 degrees? Don't know, what temperature rating I need (I'm cold sleeper). Outside temperature is usually not colder then 45F (not warmer then 65F, and 77F is an absolute record (but who even cares about quilts at 77F :-)), but in may and september it might go down to 35F or even 32F.

And how often you use your JRB Sierra TQ as a serape?

If your a backpacker, serape quilts save a lot of weight and bulk by not having a heavy jacket. I use mine often.

A lot of money on some of those items. If your going for the lightweight, then cuben & a 3 season short under quilt (Burrow 20* or Yeti 3 season) and a WBBB 1.1.

I prefer the longer UQ, like the Incubator 20*.

I imagined myself sitting near the fire at night with friends, when it's getting chilly. But if I take 40F quilt, does it it mean that I suppose that it will be not so chilly for jacket? Here I think, that maybe I should take 20F quilt, if I'm getting chilly. :-) But I read that if you have 20F UQ, you can comfortable sleep in your TQ at 32F. :-) Oh-oh-oh..
