    Hanging Rock State Park

I took my 3 kids and my niece and nephew to Hanging Rock State Park on Friday night. We had a great time.

I was able to find a site that allowed 5 hammocks to be hung in close proximity, and put mine off a bit. We played in waterfalls and swam at the lake. Had lots of fun.

Just wanted to add that 4 of the 6 hammocks were DIY. The other 2 were stock HH's. (In other words, I have 2 more to make ).

Still looking for pink or orange camo ripstop, if anyone knows where to find any... .

You've been busy w/ those hammocks! I believe you have created a few more hammock lovers!
That water is just the stuff for cooling down in this hot weather.

Any questions from the park rangers?
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I got a few questions from some fellow family campers... but I didn't have a very long conversation as they were just passing by. I did get some nice comments from the campground hosts. I have 2 more hammocks to make for the kids... one pink and one TBD color.

I still think it would be really funny to make one with pink or orange camo nylon ripstop, but I don't think those exist yet.

Cool pics, NCP. I took Short Stuff camping at Davidson River CG in Transylvania Co. at the beginning of August last year. We hammocked there and spent a lot of time in the water, especially up around Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls to beat the heat in the water.

Don't forget, I know where to get at least 3 shades of pink ripstop when you want it. Just give me a yell and I'll make it happen.

I think that MaryJo's in Gastonia has some pick and grey camo ripstop.
I remember them having some really fnky colors... I will check this week and let you know.

As far as hanging with multiple kids. I have been going with at least four kids for the last two years... Sometimes it is rather nerve racking to find the site that will accomodate. Looks like you really lucked out. good looking group of hammocks.

Hey, your group, my group, a trip soon..... hammock convention.

Hooch, thanks. I have some pink ripstop nylon for AG's hammock already (from Hancock fabrics, who are in chapter 11 and are closing some stores I just found out). I'm just looking for the camo pattern in pink or orange nylon ripstop. Thanks for looking.

4D's, if you can find me 4 yards of pink camo ripstop, that would be great. I'll pay for it and for shipping etc.

I think I did luck out on the site selection last weekend. It was nerve-wracking to think that there might not be a site with enough trees, or suitable trees for 6 hammocks. I did have a plan B and plan C, but didn't need them.

We'll have to talk about where the best place would be locally for a group hangout. I usually only have the 3 kids, but this past weekend my niece and nephew were visiting from St. Louis. That Hanging Rock campout may become a traditional thing when they come visit again...

Sorry Hooch... I keep forgetting that you have "come home"

If you make it over there before I do, let me know... I am planning on going before the weekend.

I checked their website and found this: http://www.maryjos.com/store/details...d=4567&t=0&f=f , but it was 100% cotton. I don't know if they'll have nylon ripstop in that camo there, but it would be great if you could ask if you're there.
