    Love the new avatar Shug!

Car camping for me is similar to what's already been said; if I can't fit everything into my pack AND carry it, then I'm car camping. I actually enjoy car camping. Sure, it isn't the grand adventure that many hikes hold the potential for experiencing, but good times with friends has its rewards too. As others have said, a good cut of meat and a cold beer enjoyed under the stars makes for a darn fine evening.

At Florida's Lake Wales Ridge Forest in February we camped about two miles from the cars. We actually carried in two Dutch ovens, steaks, bags of vegetables, peaches and several dozens of eggs. Even the firewood was packed in.

Did we car camp? It surely looked like it at our campsite - the only thing missing was the cars!

When you pack in,,you pack in,,no matter what your carrying,,car camping is besides the car..will be doing both myself, beginning next weekend for a few days. But,,every nite will be hanging no matter where we are.

Car camping is me loading everything into the 4Runner that my wife and daughter need to make the "camping" experience pleasant. Typically a trip to the lake with the boat in tow. I use the hammock & they use a tent.

Backpacking is me and the guys...walking into the woods with everything on our backs and not returning for days.

Shug! The new icon sort of looks like some mystical Dutch Shug clone.

    Should we worry?

For me car camping is anytime I need the car for more than getting my self and my backpack to the trail head.

If I'm carrying everything in my backpack that I need for my entire trip then I'm not car camping, even if I'm 10 feet from my car. Just my opinion on the matter.
