    Scouts & Hammock Camping

    Hi Everyone,
I thought I would start a thread for all the Boy/Cub & Girl Scout parents that either hang with thier group or are interested in using hammocks for themselves and thier scout. I was hoping to get a head count and see if we can share experiences, resources and of course, funny stories.

Based on other threads, it seems we have a sizable group.

Would love to hear from former scout parents as well.

The main thrust of this thread will be hammock camping to keep true to the forum's intentions.

I have been a leader of various positions in the past 6 yrs. Anything from Den Leader, Cubmaster, Commitee chair, Outdoor event coordinator, trainer, Asst Scout Master, merit badge counselor, pine wood derby, yada, yada, yada.

I believe in the values of scouting.

I won't repeat my Trip report but you can go to the thread here

I'll just chime in for the head count: I'm an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow member. I'm now returning to scouting with my Son in Webelos who is well on his way to his arrow of light before crossing over next year.

Good thread by the way LW.

I'm one of the adult leaders in my troop for the webelos, and the venture scouts. No kids, I just volunteer as I grew up in the troop!

i realize this flies in the face of God and country and makes me about as unpatriotic as can be, but In all my years and many attempts with myself and other family members I have never found a Scout troop (Boy or Girl) that was worth the paper the charter was printed on.

There... I've had my say. Now you all go about your business and do it right, cause there are more than enuf place that don't.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I got certified with the girl scouts when my daughter was in them.

Funniest part, I carried all my stuff in my backpack the 1/4 mile to our site for the training as did a friend who got certified with us. He went back to get something from his truck and ALL the other ladies filled the back of his truck with their stuff. I was laughing my arse off when I saw him driving back.

I asked my boys if they wanted to join, they said they would rather go hiking with me.

I was involved with my boys from Tigers through Scouts. Served in about every position except SM. I'm currently involved with my nephew's troop as an ASM.
