    Question How long?????????

hey all I am new to this stuff and i recieved my tadpole tarp from W.L. the other day. it dosn't seem to cover my hammock very well. there is only about 6 to 8 inches of extra length past the end of my hammock. is this enough?
i am currious as to weather or not rain will be a problem.

The norm for sizing a tarp is about 1 foot of coverage on either end.

Are you running a ridge line on your hammock? If not, that might help with the length issue.

Tarps need to take into account the length of the hammock. I've made "fair weather tarps" that extend only about 8" past where the hammock opens up. By deploying it right on top of the hammock, almost like a hammock cover, it will keep you dry.

Being a gram weenie, it's a good choice to take when it's not "supposed" to rain. If there's a decent chance of rain, I will take a larger tarp.

Another option, is to make some small beaks for it to give you better coverage at each end of the hammock.

How long have you had the tarp? Why not email Marty at WL, and ask him to make you a longer one, and ask him if he will take it back if you haven't used it much if any? Contact him and he will custom make anything and its not much more than what you paid. Worth a shot as I know others have. They are great at WL to work with you.

The Tad works with the 10' version of the WW. Silversurfer is set up that way with his double.

The 11' will push the limits to where you'll need to use a beak, as already stated. You probably have a space blanket or poncho, that will work, until you manage to finagle a longer tarp.

Sounds like you're pulling together a great kit there!
