    New hanger from Georgia

    Hey guys,
    I came across this forum a few months ago and I have already found tons of useful information for my journey out of my tent. I live here in Georgia a do a lot of hiking on the AT. I currently have an ENO Double nest hammock. I mainly got it for a lounging in, but it occurred to me last year that i could sleep in it as an alternative to a tent. So on a canoeing trip, I slept in it. I will be honest, I did not get a good night sleep, but I think that by getting a Warbonnet Blackbird, I will be much more comfortable. I am a side-sleeper and I move a lot while I sleep. Do you guys think that I will be able to get better results by switching to the Blackbird?

    Thanks in advance,
    J. Klustner

    Hey klusty, I'm near Valdosta, good to have you aboard!

    Looks like you already found a batch of good advice, Warbonnet makes some good stuff, but don't give up on your ENO. I have a doublenest too and I relax on the diagonal. It helps, give it a shot.

    Hey Klusty;

    Welcome to the forum! I found a lot of info on here as well and it has helped me enjoy my doublenest. I agree with Shnick, don't give up on your doublenest. I've been sleeping in mine for over and year and have slept great! Sleeping on the diagonal helps. I sleep on my side and haven't had a problem yet. Way better than a tent - wished I'd found hammocking a lot sooner!

    Welcome from Florida.
    Work with the ENO for awhile until you can attend some group hangs. There, you can try a bunch of different rigs and have a better idea of what you really want. Or, you may decide by that time, that you've mastered the ENO.

    Welcome from North Alabama. Will let you know how the wbbb does when I get mine in. Been using the wife's a few times out napping now and it is built like the double nest.

    Thanks

    Thanks guys for all of the responses. I will definitely keep trying the ENO then. Should I invest in some kind of bug net? If so, what kind? Maybe some of you guys from Georgia can help me out.

    You don't need a bugnet unless you plan on meeting bugs. Personally, I am none too keen on summer camping because mosquitoes love me. Even with a bugnet, the little critters can't wait for me to open the bugnet and join me inside my hammock.

    However, given the amount of money I've invested in this hobby, I think I have to summer camp just to cost-justify my expenses thus far. I'll be spraying everything down with permethrin.

    I might even bring a spray bottle of permethrin solution to the campsite just to spray my campsite and annoy the little *******s. They're evil.

    Growing up in SE Alabama, I thought I'd seen the worst mosquitoes in the world. I've since learned that the Northeast is even worse - mosquitoes, horseflies, blackflies, noseeums - they all love me.

    I can't imagine what Alaska is like in the summer - I've heard the bugs block out the sun at times.

    Welcome from N.E. Alabama. Maybe a hanger near you can let you try out their blackbird. Ireally like mine, I thought about getting a doublenest for when and if my wife wanted to try hanging with me sometime. Is it big enough for two people to sleep in or am I totally dreaming here? Thanks and happy hanging.
