    First outdoor hang

Finally got out last night for my first outdoor hang. I'm planning a little hike next weekend so I wanted to try my kit once from the safety of the backyard. Used my DIY gathered end with the PLUQ (made using the sticky on the DIY sub-forum) and a thermarest Z-rest pad on the bottom and my REI sub-kilo 20deg opened up as a top quilt.

Temps dropped from 48deg at sundown to 37deg low. I was plenty warm with the set up. I had to set up in a somewhat exposed spot and it was very windy overnight. My tarp was a bit loud flapping in a pretty stiff breeze. Overall good experience.

I'm going to make some adjustments to my kit based on that experience.
Thinking about swapping my mason line tie outs for shockline to keep the tarp tighter. Any thoughts on that?

Don't use just shock cord for your tie outs... The mason line is just fine, maybe just use a small loop of shock cord to make some tensioners out of.

+1 on raiffnuke's suggestion. A small loop of shockcord goes a long way!

You will be happy with the loops of shock cord on your tie outs and to compensate for the noisy tarp in the wind.......earplugs work wonders!!!!!!

Good that you tested it out first. Shock cord tensioners on your line, or some dedicated ones like they have at JacksRBetter, with surgical type tubing.
