    kids and hammock camping

Hello. Planning a one-nighter with my five year old son for the first time this weekend. It´s forecasted temp about 0-2 deg celsius ( 32 deg F). I´m considering using a DIY hammock made from blankets to the kid, have him sleep in his sleeping bag, and using a larger sleeping bag aroud both kid and hammock.
Anybody care to share their experience about hammock camping with kids?

Before you go, make sure you son is comfortable in the hammock. Have him try out the setup before you head out there.

Planning to camp not far from the car, about 15 min drive from home. But thanks for the tip. We´ll try outside in the garden before we go

I took them out in warmer weather camping, after several naps over the spring & summer.

If you make it a misterable first time, they'll likely not want to go back. Make sure that he can get out anytime he wants w/o help. Make sure that it's close to the ground. I would not put the sleeping bag around the outside of the hammock, as it will restrict him from getting out. Or worst, if he tried to get out and fell into the zipped up sleeping bag underneat & it got caught on his neck while suspended...

Put a pad down, blanket on that and then put him into a sleeping bag.

    Hi

As my name suggest I live in Harstad. Small world

I got several hammocks, and would be willing to lend you one for the weekend. A DD or a ENO dbl. Just let me know.

If I die, my biggest fear is that my wife will sell my gear for what I told her I paid for it.

I am learning from my mistakes, so I can make better and bigger mistakes.

I'm letting my oldest (8) go to the Reelfoot hang in a few weeks, but my 4 yr old is "making" me take her this weekend so it will be fair. She's a snuggler so we'll probably be in the same hammock. There's nothin like camping with the kids.
    It'll be alright Friday!

My son used to snuggle with me in my hammoch and it was great. He is a little heatbox.
