    Question/Idea: DIY Bugnet

looking for an easy diy solution. I've read some of the threads on here about simple designs, however, I'm having trouble finding noseeum at nearby fabric stores in indy. they carry tulle, but i've read mixed reviews on that.

I had the idea to acquire something like this or this

then sew two of them together to get the full length of the hammock, as well as add some tie outs to connect to the ridgeline

i think these could almost be used as is, maybe only as a partial net though.

    thoughts?

Is there any reason you want to buy local rather than from an online source like http://www.diygearsupply.com? It's $3.55 a yard (54" wide).

I avoid most Coghlan's products - I just find them cheap. Don't know much about Stansport. Seems like your simple DIY bugnet should start with a quality noseeum fabric, though. It seems just as easy to buy the raw fabric than to try to repurpose bugnets.

due to my fail, it was sort of a time issue. i want to go the diy noseeum route, i just delayed too long. I'm heading to a hang this weekend and figured bugs wouldn't be very bad due to the highly fluctuating weather we're having out here. Now i've heard the mosquitoes and such are a buzz.

i may end up just roughing it, as i couldn't find any of those cheaper nets locally.

Have you checked at Hancock Fabrics and Joann's. They both list mosquito netting online.

Army/Navy stores may have it as well.

If you're headed to the 3rd HH in HNF, you can come by my place and borrow an ENO bug net on your way to the hang. I'm on the west side of Columbus about 3 minutes out of your way. PM me if interested.

I put out a post on the local freecycle group for old tents, and I scored a screen room. I just recycled the screen panels my bug netting.

Check military surplus stores. That's the only place that I can get Noseeum locally for me, but it does cost more than Scott at diygearsupply.com sells his for.

Yeah, I checked at joanns/hancock. I did find they had white mosquito netting. I ended up contacting an army/navy place, which didnt have anything presently, they were expecting some soon, apparently.

I may take you up on that. thanks for the offer.

Good to know, I'll steer clear of the coghlans.
