    Still snowshoeing

Well i've been back a week or so now from my time in the city doing home care for my dad who recently got out of the hospital. I stayed to where he was doing most things himself again and then headed back to the Kootenays. Took a few days to get grounded back into country life and once the rain stopped i headed out on a few hikes some with snow and others not. Here's one i did on easter sunday up the little slocan valley from me. Most of the snow is gone at my place but when you head up the valley eight miles makes a big difference.
Heading out,,a view up the valley.

Once i got back to Koch Junction i parked the truck and pulled out the snowshoes cause there was still 1.5'-3' of snow on the ground .
    The beginning of the trail.

Farther along i start to head down to the canyon , trail gets narrower.

First point where you start to see the canyon . I sat here for lunch in a sizable tree well.

After lunch i headed down a narrow trail which made me a little nervous as its a hillside covered in a couple of feet of wet snow straight down to the river.
Its short,,,,didn't want the thing to slide,,,held my breath a bit.

First shot of the falls.Their about thirty feet high.

It was too dangerous to head down the hill for a close up because of the snow conditions so just zoomed in

Still lots of snow on the mnts around here

A very nice day hike,,warm and snowshoeing to boot.

The only down part was my truck broke down out here and i had to catch a ride with some weekend snow mobilers and then go back out yesterday with a friend and tow it back to the main part of the valley where my mechanic is looking at it now.
I go to the falls two or three times /yr and had some other photo's i never wrote about so i'll through in some summer fall photo's here.

very nice lunch spot down by the water.

    Just above the falls

very cool heart shaped pool . Its about 6-8ft across. The one in the foreground is allot bigger going behind me about ten feet.

The falls,,, probably summer. During spring breakup which is just starting this area will fill up and explode with water.

    enjoy

Wow, nice pics, and I hate that I am sitting here in the office. 40 minutes till quiting time, but still no scenery like you have. I am so very jealous. I may have to move north.

Awesome Bill! That's great you got out there in the woods and unlike many of us, still seeing snow. Thanks for the great pics.

Sorry to hear about the truck but those are some fantastic pictures! I really didn't use the time properly when I lived out there!

Very nice shots Bill. Sucks to have truck trouble but what a great looking area. I can see some big rainbows living in the pools of that river.

Great pics. Quick question: what is snow? I seem to have forgotten.
