Hammock Camping Near Chicago??

Hello all,

I started solo camping this summer and my last was hammock camping. I was wondering if there was anyone out near the Chicagoland area that knew of any nice camping areas that are hammock friendly.

I'm planning on finding a pair of trees near Chicago.

A few of us guys have gotten together at a little campsite on the I&M trail near Channahon. Another place called Forest Glen Preserve has an 11 mile loop with a couple of camping areas along the way. Both are hike in places. I have also hung at the Indiana Dunes, but would check with the ranger station first since it's been several years ago. Are you looking to backpack or car camp?

Dunno if they qualify as near Chicago to y'all but I'll toss 'em out there anyhow.

Bong Rec Area has hiking, hanging and a whole lot of other outdoor activities to offer.

Ottawa Lake, Pine Woods and Whitewater Lake are just a skosh further away and right on the IAT aka Ice Age Trail.
