    New Lazy Slug Tube

Just got my new Lazy Slug Tube and the workmanship is awesome. Can't wait to get my Blackbird wrapped up in this thing.

There was a small issue with my order. A single 2-pack of #0 S biners was missing. Obviously not a big deal and a tiny oversight (no pun intended). Sent an email to Marty and within minutes I had a reply. The remainder has been sent. Now that is an amazing response time and service.

Thank you Wilderness Logics for the awesome gear.

So is this thing essentially just an overgrown snakeskin? Or maybe an escaped Anaconda that just ate your mother-in-law? Very cool.

Those pics might have to be in my kitchen. Don't know when I'll get it hung outside yet. Plan on getting it on the BB tonight and see how my quilts fit, they are both a little bulky being synthetic.

That's pretty much what they are. They are very large silnylon snakeskins with draw cords on both the large and small ends.

How do you find it packs up size wise to packing UQ,TQ etc individually?

I just shifted my LST over from my winter rig (Speer hammock/Snugfit uq/Hammock Gear tq/Papa Smurf sock/pillow/fleece clothing). The summer rig is a WLLO/KAQ uq and tq/Fronkey bug net/pillow, etc. In both cases, the 'tube ate the whole thing, with room to spare.

It will pack bigger this way, no question about it, for three reasons: the additional volume of the tube itself, it won't push into and fill odd corners as well, and the sil tube wants to hold air. I have a love/hate thing goin' on with the sil, but on balance, I'll stay with it. It keeps my bed clean and dry, and the tubes function as end caps, protecting the rig in blowing rain.

    sorry for buttin' in.
i haven't individually "stuffed sacked" my quilts since my ground dwelling days.
since converting to hammocks, i have always stuffed everything directly into me pack which i usually keep lined with a compactor bag, so i can't make a fair comparison.
also, i keep more than just hammock and quilts inside the "slug".
the pix in my gallery show the slug loaded with:
(srl stuff) tiny flash light, bandana, mp3 & buds, headlamp, combo lantern and flash light.
2 peak bags w/down booties and sleep socks in one, winter sleep hat and fleece scarf in the other.
wbbb (before i converted to Owls)
    sleeping bag
fleece hoodie (knee pillow/night "wiz" jacket)
    full length uq and uqp.
    all synthetic!

in other words, every thing i sleep with other than my tarp.

all that said, it is only slightly more bulky than stuffin the same stuff into my pack individually. the convenience, imho, more than makes up for the additional bulk.
i loose less stuff, i don't forget to pack things. i can hang my hammock in my shed put what i want for a particular trip in the hammock and slide the slug over it all and shove the entire thing into the bottom of my pack.
when i set up, i hang the slug, open it and hop in.
i really like the speed, ease and gear protection. plus i'm lazy.

here is the original LST thread

and here is a video, made about a year after the still pix where shot.

the slug (sil-ny) will hold some air so i stuff it folded at the middle first and leave the ends loosely cinched to alloy the air to escape.
